Levels A1 - C2

The Council of Europe has established in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) six levels of language teaching and learning. Those levels are:

A1 - Breakthrough
A2 - Way stage
B1 - Threshold
B2 - Vantage
C1- Effective operational proficiency
C2 – Mastery
Levels A1 and A2 correspond to what is known as the "basic user" of the language. Levels B1 and B2, to the "independent user" and levels C1 and C2, to the "competent user".

From 90 to 100 hours of teaching- learning are needed to cover each level. Therefore, if you attend one of the regular courses (three hours a week from September to June), you will go through one level each school year. There is also the possibility of more intensive learning.

Unless you are an absolute beginner, you should check with the school which level you can join. Our teachers will give you a placement test for that purpose.

Course formats

General Couses: General courses (levels A1 to C2) are 100-110 hour courses starting in September and ending in June. They are available in different formats:
Combined learning courses: The distribution of the teaching- learning hours is the following: 50 hours of face-to-face lessons (in the classroom with the teacher) + 50- 60 hours of on-line learning (through the Internet).

On-line courses: The courses are designed to take advantage of the huge potential the Internet has as a learning media and include a vast array of interactive materials that enhance and stimulate learning. In addition, each student has their own Aula tutor that will help assist them throughout their course. One-to-one, private courses: We also provide 1-2-1-, private courses since students might prefer them for a series of reasons such as a timetable that meets their needs reaching good communicative competence as quickly as possible a course designed to meet their particular objectives.
